How Long Does it Take to Rank in Google?

Ahrefs conducted a study which looked at the common time frames you need to consider when seeking to boost your SEO ranking.

Unfortunately, their insights, as outlined in the below infographic from The Website Group, don’t reveal any shortcuts (because there aren’t any), but they do outline exactly what it takes to get pages to rank in the top ten results.

Having the data presented in infographic form makes it easier to understand the complexities of the process, which will also help you establish realistic expectations and achievable goals for your pages.

And then you can keep on pushing until you outrank the rest.

Facts:

  • Only 22% of pages that currently rank in the Top 10 were created within 1 year.
  • Only 5.7% of all studied pages ranked in the Top 10 search results within 1 year for at least 1 keyword.
  • Only 5.7% of all newly published pages will get to Google Top 10 within a year.
  • Only 0.3% of pages ranked in the Top 10 for a high-volume keyword in less than a year.
  • Almost 95% of newly published pages don’t get to the Top 10 within a year.
